The Android Vibe is all about Google’s Android platform. From smartphones to tablets, we talk about the latest goings-on with Android, and how to make the little bot work for you.
We are back after a brief spring break. As I mention briefly in the show, I’ve been spending lots of time trying to get Android to handle lyric display while using Ableton Live to fire off music during live performances. It is pretty interesting to see what music apps are out there for Android. I will be sure to share some of them in the near future.
Google Glass or Smartwatch? It’s not enough to have a smartphone in your pocket these days, but now we need to wear these smart devices. Don’t get me wrong, the idea of the smartwatch is tempting, but let’s take some time and see what the developers can do with them. It’s not good enough to just have the device, but e need fun and engaging software behind it. What are your thoughts on Glass or the Smartwatch? Send your comments to theandroidvibe@gmail.com
As you might hear noted from time to time in this week’s show, I finally upgraded to the Nexus 4 by Google. It is the perfect companion piece to the Nexus 7, but I won’t give a full review yet until I have had more time to put the Nexus 4 through its paces. Needless to say, I do love the phone, and am quite excited about it. For me, it was definitely worth springing for the Nexus 4 and foregoing the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Happy Easter from the Android Vibe! I want to thank all of you for your continued listenership and support, and for keeping the Android Vibe on your playlist this weekend. I hope all of you have a safe and festive holiday!
Not only is Android hip, but fashionable, too! The Android Smartwatch could be a consumer-oriented device that lets us be ultra-cool without being too flashy like Google Glass. We’re not quite sure of all the features, but the Vibe will keep you posted!
The Galaxy S4 is finally here! Even though the hardware specs didn't blow anyone's mind, the software that Samsung has packed in looks absolutely incredible. Most of Samsung's new apps and features involve ways to interact with the phone without having to even touch it. Only time will tell how rock solid their engineering is, but the concepts really push the envelope for mobile technology, and should scare some of the manufacturers. Well done, Samsung! On another note, the Android Vibe website...
The big news this week is the White House’s support for protecting our right to unlock cell phones that are bought and paid for. Personally, I have very pleased to see some branches of our government thinking about the rights of consumers instead of big business. Well done, mates!
After moving the studio to a new space (more like a crawl space), the place is in shambles, but the Vibe carries on regardless. Android news is light leading up to Mobile World Congress, but rest assured we will make up for it with all the news and goodies that come out at MWC. Also of important note, I was a guest star on Google At A Glance with John Hanlon, courtesy of Net Cast Studio. Be sure the check out the show and support John and the crew.
From all reviews, CES 2013 was pretty much a bust. However, we sifted through the crap and found the highlights that encourage us to look forward to another year of Android goodness. If you have a favorite story about Android from CES 2013, send it to theandroidvibe@gmail.com
Welcome back to another year of the Android Vibe! After a holiday break, we are back with more thrilling news from the Android community. This year, our goal is to provide you with more comprehensive Android information and keep you up to speed on Android news.
