Speaking Out: Faith and Sexuality - The Wild Goose Festival 2011

People of faith and spirituality have long grappled with issues surrounding sexuality. At the recent Wild Goose Festival, speakers discussed the Emerging Church's attitude toward the LGBTQ community. "There's a 300 pound gorilla in the room, let's talk about it," said Jay Bakker, a co-pastor at the Brooklyn-based Revolution NYC church. Wild Goose organizers identify with the Emerging Church, an anti-hierarchy, pro-social justice Christian movement that looks at biblical texts as being more fluid than in the past, all in response to generational and cultural changes.
